Proactive Health and Screenings
It’s important to have a focus on wellness and the prevention of health issues. Preventive screenings are part of well-visit exams because we recognize that not all conditions have signs and symptoms in the early stages. For example, while high blood pressure and high cholesterol don’t make people feel different on a day-to-day basis, over time they put health at risk for problems such as heart attack and stroke. The best way to prevent health issues is to be proactive with regular checkups and screenings before issues start.
Many prominent health issues such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer evolve over time, making early intervention key to successful treatment. Regular checkups and screenings can detect and prevent health issues from starting, worsening or creating new and more significant problems.
Typical screenings include blood pressure and blood sugar and cholesterol levels; bloodwork to analyze body chemistry; breast, cervical, colon, prostate and skin cancer screenings; and vision and hearing screenings. All these―and more―are important to track, prevent and treat problems effectively.
Protect your health. It’s wonderful and dynamic, and is affected by the things you do, the feelings you have and the life you lead. At the end of the day, the best way to stay well is to maintain a good relationship with your doctor.
