Lighter, Healthier Sweet Treats For Summer

Whether you like to make your own sweet treats or purchase them at the store, these lighter options are a healthy treat to share at home, in the office or at a party.

 

Chocolate-dipped pretzel rods: Dip pretzel rods in dark chocolate and dress them up with optional add-ons like chopped nuts, sea salt or sprinkles. You can even arrange them in a decorated mason jar as a cute “bouquet.”

Chocolaty graham crackers: Dip reduced-fat graham crackers in dark chocolate for a sweet, simple treat.

The classic fruit and chocolate combo: Chocolate-covered strawberries are always a favorite, but banana, apples or pineapple offer variety. Roll in chopped nuts or coconut for extra pleasure.

Fruit skewers plus: If you’re not a chocolate fan, try fruit skewers sprinkled with dried coconut flakes or dipped in low-fat yogurt.

Pretty parfaits: Whip up a batch of homemade low-fat pudding and layer or decorate it with your favorite berries.

Perfectly shareable cake: If you love cake, aim for a fluffy angel food cake topped with strawberries, raspberries or blueberries and chocolate sauce drizzle.

Froyo: Top a small scoop of frozen yogurt with sprinkles, coconut flakes, fresh berries, nuts, or chocolate or low-sugar fruit drizzle.
